Kanye West files ‘Sunday Service’ apparel trademark

The trademark, made for the name ‘Sunday Service’, was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on July 19 by Mascott Holdings, according to public records.Mascott Holdings is the same company that filed trademarks for ‘Yeezus’, ‘Yeezy’, ‘Red October’,  ‘Yandhi’, ‘Half Beast’ and ‘Kanye West’, among others, on West’s behalf.

The new application lists “bottoms as clothing,” dresses, footwear, handwear, jackets, loungewear, scarves, shirts, socks and “tops as clothing,” signalling a new collection or merchandise is on the way from West. The term Sunday Service takes its name from West’s recurring concert performance of the same name, which featured the hip-hop artist leading a choir in gospel renditions of his songs, as well as popular R&B songs and gospel songs.Sunday Service was eventually brought to Coachella, where West sold a variety of special merchandise, including t-shirts and socks printed with phrases like, “trust god,” “holy spirit” and “jesus walks.”The newest trademark comes as West’s Yeezy sneaker line, which is now made in partnership with Adidas, continues to be a massive success. In a report from The New York Times, a source said that Yeezy is expected to exceed $1.3 billion in sales in 2019, while Forbes said sales are set to top $1.5 billion.
